Pacific Fusion Targets Net Energy Gain in 18 Months, Plant by 2028

Pacific Fusion, backed by $340 million, is pursuing inertial confinement fusion—compressing fuel with lasers to generate energy. Its latest prototype achieved 440 gigawatts of peak power at 1.67 percent efficiency, triple the prior generation.
