Google adds selfie-video account recovery

Google will let users recover locked accounts by recording a guided selfie video — head turns and nods — instead of using passwords, SMS codes, or authenticator apps. The system matches the video against a saved enrollment clip and runs liveness checks to block photos and deepfakes. Google has not disclosed how its deepfake detection works.
