Government to introduce national digital product labelling standard

The Government will introduce a national digital product labelling standard, allowing businesses to update product details in real time. Regulations Minister David Seymour announced the move on 6 September 2026, forecasting $111m in economic benefit over ten years. Seymour said digital labels would not replace physical ones but let businesses adopt a global standard. A Ministry for Regulation review prompted the change.
