Hodgkinson skips Glasgow Commonwealth Games for European Championships in Birmingham

Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson will skip the Glasgow Commonwealth Games to prioritise the European Athletics Championships, which begin in Birmingham on 10 August. Hodgkinson cited a deeper 800m field and a direct shot at a continental title. The England squad for the European Championships is expected to be announced next week.
