Yemeni Government Retakes Hais District in Largest Front-Line Shift Since Truce Collapse
Yemen's government recaptured Hais district in Hodeidah province and advanced in western Taiz on September 6 — the biggest territorial shift since fighting shattered a four-year UN truce in August. Hais sits at the junction of three provinces, giving it outsized military value. Clashes in Taiz killed over 60 people and displaced 1,800 families. The Houthis still hold Sanaa and other major cities.
