Hitler's Birthplace Becomes Austrian Police Station

Austria converted the Braunau am Inn house where Adolf Hitler was born in 1889 into a police station, inaugurated July 22, 2026. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner attended. The project, begun in 2023, places a civic security function on the site to deter neo-Nazi pilgrimages — anchoring it to purposes antithetical to ideological veneration.
