New PM Burnham targets long-term rough sleeping on first day

Andy Burnham used his first day as prime minister, 20 July 2026, to launch a drive against long-term rough sleeping across the UK. After visiting The Passage, a London homelessness charity, he gave his first Downing Street speech. Ministers said the first steps will move long-term rough sleepers into secure housing.
