OpenAI Claims Its Model Disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis

OpenAI said on October 26, 2026 that one of its models produced a claimed disproof of the Exponential Time Hypothesis, a long-standing complexity-theory conjecture on algorithmic speed limits. Its academic-communities page states the hypothesis is false. OpenAI has asked Impagliazzo, Paturi and Ryan Williams to help interpret the solution. Anthropic has since released its own refutation.
