OpenAI Claims Its Model Disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis

OpenAI said on October 26, 2026 that one of its models produced a claimed disproof of the Exponential Time Hypothesis, a longstanding complexity-theory conjecture. Its academic-communities page states the hypothesis is false. OpenAI has asked Impagliazzo, Paturi and Ryan Williams to help interpret the solution. Anthropic has since released its own refutation. Independent review is pending.
