OpenAI to train frontier models without live internet access
OpenAI will train its frontier AI models with no live internet connection, citing the current state of alignment research, monitoring and internet infrastructure security. Agents will work through browsers, computer-use tools and code environments inside a secure environment, drawing on an offline indexed and cached web corpus. Broader access will return only when safeguards improve.
