Tesla Targets Q2 2027 for Owner-Car Robotaxi Access

Tesla expects owners to add their vehicles to its robotaxi fleet around Q2 2027, VP Ashok Elluswamy said on the Q3 2026 earnings call on October 21. He said Tesla could enable some first customer vehicles "somewhere around Q2 next year." Customer Model Y cars must be part of Tesla's geofences (virtual boundaries) and fleet management to be fully autonomous.
