Tesla Plans Cybercab Customer Sales by Year-End

Tesla said on its October 21, 2026, third-quarter earnings call that it plans to begin selling the steering-wheel-less Cybercab to customers by year-end. VP of engineering Lars Moravy said all Cybercabs produced so far are destined for Tesla's robotaxi fleet. US regulator NHTSA audits Tesla's self-certification of FMVSS (federal safety standards) compliance; the audit opened September 3 and is ongoing.
