Riots do not stop big-ticket sales at Art Basel Paris preview

Dealers at Art Basel Paris, in the Grand Palais in Paris, reported big-ticket sales during the 20 and 21 October preview days, despite riots across France. White Cube reported 16 early sales, including Julie Mehretu's Rise of the New Suprematists (2001), listed at US$7.8 million. Andreas Gegner of Sprüth Magers said many clients came anyway.
