Singapore film festival opens with The Assassin(s) despite conservative party's demand to drop it

The Singapore International Film Festival opened its 37th edition on Wednesday, 21 October, with South Korean thriller The Assassin(s), despite a 6 October letter from South Korea's People Power Party asking it to reverse the selection (Variety). SGIFF said on 7 October the film was chosen through its independent curatorial process.
