Tesla Plans to Let Car Owners Join Its Self-Driving Taxi Fleet in 2027

Tesla expects owners to add their own cars to its self-driving taxi fleet around the second quarter of 2027. Executive Ashok Elluswamy said on an October 21, 2026, investor call that some early customer cars could start then. Model Y cars would need to stay inside Tesla's map zones and be run by its central system to be fully self-driving.
