
Labour promises right-to-repair law for car workshops
Labour would make car makers share repair manuals, diagnostic software and tools with independent garages. Consumer Affairs spokesperson Arena Williams said some workshops are turning away jobs because they cannot get the information. She pointed to Australia’s 2022 right-to-repair scheme, saying repairs there cost 25 percent less on average at independents than at dealerships.
