
Labour promises car right-to-repair for independent mechanics
Labour has promised a car right-to-repair law requiring manufacturers to give independent mechanics access to manuals, software and tools. Consumer Affairs spokesperson Arena Williams said workshops are turning away work for lack of repair information. She pointed to Australia's 2022 scheme, claiming repairs there are 25 percent cheaper on average at independents than dealerships.
