California Gasoline Averaged $6.189, Well Above Texas

California gasoline averaged $6.189 a gallon on Sept. 28, up $0.186 from Sept. 21 and $1.743 from a year ago, the EIA, the federal energy data agency, reported. Texas averaged $3.841, while San Francisco hit $6.267. I expect such gaps to keep pressuring household and freight budgets. The Oct. 6 federal update will show if prices kept rising.
