
Spain's Parliament Votes Down First Housing Decree
Spain’s parliament voted down the first of two emergency housing decrees on Oct. 2, 2026, rejecting an eviction freeze, a temporary halt to removals, and tenant protections. The government sought ratification, or formal approval, to address the housing crisis amid protests. The Council of Ministers, Spain’s cabinet, approved the measures Sept. 29.
