California Gas Prices Averaged $6.189 a Gallon

California gas averaged $6.189 a gallon on Sept. 28, up $0.186 from Sept. 21 and $1.743 from a year ago, the federal energy office reported. Texas averaged $3.841; San Francisco reached $6.267. I expect this gap to keep squeezing family spending and trucking costs. The Oct. 6 federal update will show if prices kept climbing.
