Carney names Pacific Link pipeline first national-interest project

Prime Minister Mark Carney named the Alberta-to-B.C. bitumen pipeline — bitumen is heavy oil from the oil sands — now called Pacific Link, a project of national interest under the Building Canada Act, the first on the list. He announced it Oct. 1 in Fort McMurray with Premier Danielle Smith and Indigenous leaders.
