Forecast: UK Energy Price Cap to Hit £1,999 in January

British household energy bills are set to climb. Cornwall Insight forecasts the Default Tariff Cap — the limit regulator Ofgem sets on standard rates — will reach £1,999 a year for typical dual-fuel use from January to March, up 16%, or £276. It had earlier predicted a 9% rise. If confirmed, that would be the highest level in four years.
