Man who admitted $8m AI-streaming fraud seeks probation with no prison

Michael Smith, 54, who pleaded guilty to collecting more than US$8 million in royalties, the payments streaming services pay for plays, from bot-streamed AI songs, asked a Manhattan federal court on 22 September for probation with no prison time, according to his sentencing memorandum. He faces up to five years for conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
