MBIE chief stays after $50.7m immigration project scrapped

MBIE chief executive Nic Blakeley offered to resign after Immigration New Zealand scrapped biometric upgrades costing $50.7 million, RNZ reported. Public Service Commissioner Sir Brian Roche rejected the offer, saying Blakeley was new in the job and had apologised fully. Immigration Minister Erica Stanford said she was extremely disappointed.
