Ministry boss stays after $50.7m immigration checks scrapped

The head of the business ministry, Nic Blakeley, offered to quit after $50.7 million was spent on face and fingerprint checks for Immigration that were then dropped, RNZ reported. The public service boss, Sir Brian Roche, said no, noting Blakeley was new and had said sorry fully. Minister Erica Stanford said she was extremely disappointed.
