Sussex seamer Henry Crocombe took his second hat-trick in eight days at Chelmsford, having never managed one before in his career. The 24-year-old, leaving for Surrey at season's end, claimed 5-39, reducing Essex from 171-3 to 177 all out — seven wickets for six runs in 26 balls. Five fell in 14 deliveries without a run conceded.
