Yo-Yo Ma stars in Pawo Choyning Dorji short 'A Song for the Snow Lion,' set for Telluride

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Bhutanese director Pawo Choyning Dorji collaborated on 'A Song for the Snow Lion,' a 21-minute Bhutan–U.S. short built around a Himalayan folktale about vanishing glaciers. Variety unveiled the first trailer on 3 September 2026. The film screens in the official programme of the 53rd Telluride Film Festival, whose lineup was announced the same day.
