Lucas's $1 Billion Museum Opens 22 September with Star Wars Props on Display

George Lucas's approximately $1 billion Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens to the public on 22 September 2026 in Los Angeles. Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, the five-story, 300,000-square-foot building houses over 1,300 objects from a 40,000-plus collection. Its "Star Wars in Motion" exhibition features C-3PO, R2-D2, and Darth Vader — the saga that bankrolled the project. Lucas said it "almost broke my will."
