Netflix drops 'The Forgotten Realms' for new D&D series 'Ravenloft' as Paramount+ holds a separate D&D drama

Netflix has shelved 'The Forgotten Realms', a D&D series in development since early 2025 with Shawn Levy and Drew Crevello, per Deadline (3 September 2026). In its place comes 'Ravenloft', with writer John August and director Alfonso Cuarón as executive producers. A separate D&D drama from Rawson Marshall Thurber holds a straight-to-series order at Paramount+.
