Denmark's largest Viking silver hoard is the third found near Fyrkat fortress

A homeowner in Rebild, Denmark, struck an 18.5 kg silver hoard while gardening — the largest Viking Age silver find in the country, nearly triple the previous record, according to Nordjyske Museer. The 10th-century deposit of roughly 700 objects is the third major silver hoard near Fyrkat, a ring fortress built under Harald Bluetooth. Archaeologists are studying why wealth concentrated there.
