Frieze Seoul 2026: dealers report strong sales despite weak won and sliding KOSPI

Frieze Seoul's fifth edition closed at the Coex centre in Gangnam with stronger-than-expected sales despite a weak Korean won and a KOSPI sitting nearly 25 percent below its mid-June peak. Thaddaeus Ropac sold Adrian Ghenie's 'Figure with Funerary Stele' for €1.1 million (US$1.28 million). Kukje Gallery sold a 1971 Yoo Youngkuk abstraction for up to US$1.84 million to a North American museum board member, Artnet News reported.
