Galliano cancels his own Met retrospective, leaving 2027 Met Gala without a theme

John Galliano announced on Instagram on 31 August 2026 that "John Galliano Horizons" — set to run 9 May 2027 through 9 January 2028 at The Met Fifth Avenue and anchor the 2027 Met Gala — "not to take place at this time." Galliano cited accountability for his past racist and antisemitic conduct. The Met confirmed the mutual decision via WWD. No replacement exhibition has been announced.
