Sega writes down €169 million on Rovio, three years after €706 million acquisition

Sega acquired Rovio in August 2023 for €706 million. In February 2026, Sega recognised approximately ¥31.3 billion (€169 million) in impairment losses on Rovio's goodwill and intangible assets — an accounting write-down formally declaring the Angry Birds studio worth far less than the purchase price. By November 2025, Sega said Rovio's titles had trended downward since the deal closed.
