Veteran director Rintaro to visit Busan for first Korea trip in 17 years

Director Rintaro, whose credits include 'Galaxy Express 999' (1979) and 'Metropolis' (2001), will travel to the 31st Busan International Film Festival (6–15 October 2026) for his first Korea visit in 17 years, Variety reports. He headlines BIFF's 13-film Japanese Animation Special, 'Masterpieces of Madness,' joined by directors Kadowaki Kohei, Katanosaka Ryo, Natsume Shingo and Shinomiya Yoshitoshi.
