Manchester United close to signing Mexico captain Bernal — a WSL first

Manchester United are close to signing Mexico captain Rebeca Bernal from Washington Spirit, per BBC Sport. The 29-year-old defender, with 65 caps, would become the first Mexican to feature in the WSL since its 2011 founding. Bernal missed Washington's last NWSL match with an "excused absence." United open their WSL season at London City Lionesses on Friday.
