Half of teacher pay rise to come from school budgets, Lib Dems say

Teacher pay in England rises 3.5% from September, with 3% more next year — almost 17% over two years, the Department for Education said. Half the increase will come from existing school budgets. The Liberal Democrats urged Education Secretary Lucy Powell to fully fund the award, calling for an emergency package to tackle retention.
