Pogacar abandons Vuelta stage eight — first Grand Tour withdrawal of his career

Tadej Pogacar abandoned the 2026 Vuelta a España on stage eight after crashing with about 33km remaining. The Slovenian, who led the GC — the overall standings — by 3:50, suffered a cut face and injured left shoulder. It is the first time he has pulled out of a Grand Tour. Spain's Enric Mas now leads, 1:11 ahead of Felix Gall.
