Shailene Woodley learned her Mary Jane scenes were cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 nearly a year after filming them

Woodley told the SAG-AFTRA Foundation she filmed about three scenes with Andrew Garfield, then waited close to a year before learning they would not appear in the May 2014 release. She was told the filmmakers wanted the Gwen Stacy relationship to play out first. The planned sequel that would have introduced Mary Jane was never made. (Variety, 29 August 2026)
