Elgar hits 56th first-class century and passes 19,000 red-ball runs on retirement announcement day

Dean Elgar scored 113 from 191 balls for Essex against Surrey at Chelmsford — his 56th first-class century, taking him past 19,000 career red-ball runs. The South African opener had announced he will retire from professional cricket at the end of the 2025 season, on the eve of his 280th first-class appearance.
