Rotterdam dismisses two civil servants over bribes linked to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen renovation

Rotterdam sacked two civil servants for allegedly accepting bribes to award over-inflated construction contracts, including asbestos removal at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, closed for renovation since 2019. Mayor Carola Schouten briefed the city council on 28 August 2026. A criminal investigation is ongoing. The museum declined comment, citing municipal management of its buildings. No charges filed.
