King Harald V of Norway and King Oyo of Tooro die within hours, 28 August 2026

King Harald V of Norway died at Rikshospitalet, Oslo, at 06:35 on 28 August 2026, aged 89, after a 35-year reign. His son Crown Prince Haakon succeeded as King Haakon VIII. Hours later, Tooro's Prime Minister confirmed King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, Omukama of the Kingdom of Tooro in south-west Uganda, had died aged 34. Oyo ascended in 1995 aged three and leaves a son as heir.
