Floating Points surprise-releases orchestral ballet score 'Mere Mortals' on Deutsche Grammophon

Floating Points, the project of electronic musician Sam Shepherd, surprise-released the album "Mere Mortals" on 28 August 2026 via Deutsche Grammophon. The full orchestral score, recorded with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, landed the same day its source ballet received its European premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival. Tamara Rojo commissioned the work; Aszure Barton choreographed.
