Kirill Sokolov will direct his first animated feature, 'Alone in the Ocean,' based on Soviet oceanographer Slava Kurilov's 1974 escape from the U.S.S.R. by jumping overboard a cruise ship and swimming nearly three days to the Philippine island of Siargao. Lazy Sunday and The Media Company produce; European co-production partners are in discussion, per Variety. No release date is set.
