Sweden's King Is Now the Last Reigning Descendant of Queen Victoria

King Harald V of Norway died August 28, 2026, at age 89, ending a 35-year reign. His son Crown Prince Haakon succeeds him. With Harald's death, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden — who descends from Queen Victoria through both parents — is the last reigning great-great-grandchild of the 19th-century British sovereign.
