Campaign Urges Cinemas to Refuse Amazon MGM's Ali G Film Ahead of October Release
NewsCord, a media-monitoring platform, has urged cinemas worldwide to refuse to screen Amazon MGM's "Ali G: Who Iz I?", sending more than 36,000 emails to major chains by 28 August 2026, per Variety. The campaign accuses Sacha Baron Cohen of using satire as "a cover for enforcing racist stereotypes." The film opens 23 October 2026. Phil Clapp, head of the U.K. Cinema Association, said cinemas "are not there to act as censors or arbiters of public taste."
