Wordless Nature Documentary to Open Oldenburg Festival — a First

Mi Steinbach's directorial debut "Strange Neighbors" will open the Oldenburg International Film Festival on 16 September, the first documentary to hold that slot. The film has no narration, no interviews and no human protagonists. Steinbach shot it over three years on Schwarztonnensand, a human-free Elbe river island. It arrives without a sales agent or distributor (The Hollywood Reporter, 28 August 2026).
