Stripe and Advent Walk Away From $53 Billion PayPal Bid

Stripe and Advent International have abandoned their pursuit of PayPal, Bloomberg reported on August 28, 2026. The proposed leveraged buyout, valued at over $53 billion at $60.50 per share, would have ranked among the largest ever. PayPal rejected the July offer, then saw shares climb 40% on stronger quarterly results. Neither suitor has explained the withdrawal.
