Zara Larsson barred from 2027 Grammy Best New Artist category over prior nomination

Zara Larsson cannot be submitted for Best New Artist at the 2027 Grammys. Recording Academy rules bar any artist previously nominated as a performer from the category. Larsson's nomination for 'Midnight Sun' in Best Dance Pop Recording at the 2026 ceremony triggers the exclusion. Her former label Epic had wanted to submit her; Larsson rejected the idea, saying it would downplay her 13 years as a recording artist. Rolling Stone reported the eligibility on 27 August 2026.
