Stalking charges dismissed against Sabrina Carpenter's accused stalker after mental incompetency ruling

A Los Angeles judge dismissed stalking and trespassing charges against William Applegate, 31, on 25 August 2025 after a psychiatric evaluation found him mentally incompetent to stand trial, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office confirmed. A separate five-year restraining order requiring Applegate to stay 100 yards from Carpenter remains in effect until 2031.
