Twitch outage hits during GTA 6 extended look premiere on Netflix

Twitch's web, chat and video services went down on 27 August 2026, minutes after the Grand Theft Auto VI extended look premiered on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET. Downdetector logged the first spike at 3:15 p.m. EDT. Roughly 180,000 viewers were watching GTA 6 streams at the time. Twitch has not confirmed the surge caused the outage.
